Logan Express Rates to Increase

December 29, 2003

As approved in September 2003, Logan Express rates for bus tickets and parking will be increased on December 31, 2003. The rate increase reflects the rising costs of facility maintenance, equipment and fuel. It is the fourth rate increase in the 17-year history of Logan Express.

Effective December 31, 2003, the new Logan Express rates will be:

One-way bus fare - $11.00
Round trip bus fare - $20.00
Daily parking rate - $11.00
Weekly parking rate - $66.00

Fares will be discounted for $1.00 seniors and children under 12 ride free.

Logan Express is a park-and-ride service operated by Massport from four suburban locations: Braintree, Framingham, Woburn and Peabody. Travelers may get dropped off or leave their cars at the Logan Express sites and board a comfortable motor coach which brings them directly to their airline terminal at Logan.

Despite a down economy, Logan Express broke a ridership record in 2002 carrying an all-time high of 1.18 million travelers, a 5.4 % increase over 2001. Use of the Braintree Logan Express totaled 513,475, an increase of 2.4%. Framingham provided service to 385,187 passengers, a 2.1% decrease. Woburn shuttled 234,422 passengers, an increase of 8.7%. And Peabody carried 49,255 passengers in its first full year of operation.

The Logan Express rate structure is designed to cover operating costs and ensure a safe and comfortable ride for travelers.

Logan Express is one of many transportation options available to travelers. Travelers at Logan have access to multiple modes of transportation, including: taxis, limousines, private coach, schedule bus service, the MBTA and water transportation.
