 News Logan Retains Scheduled Cross Harbor Shuttle Service ; Two companies step in to link airport and downtown August 14, 2003 Logan International Airport travelers can still cross Boston Harbor to and from downtown with regularity, thanks to the newly formed Logan-Boston Water Shuttle service. With the Airport Water Shuttle, an independently-owned business providing service between Logan and Rowes Wharf, ending service on Friday, August 15, the two remaining water service providers at Logan Airport have joined together to offer a direct, year-round cross harbor connection. The Harbor Express and the City Water Taxi, two longtime boat operators calling at the Logan Airport dock have formed the Logan-Boston Water Shuttle and will carry passengers to and from Logan Airport and Long Wharf starting on August 16 at 10 a.m. the Logan-Boston Water Shuttle will operate during the weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (departing every 20 minutes) and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends (departing every 30 minutes). The cost remains the same at $10.00 for a one-way ticket. In addition to operating the Logan-Boston Water Shuttle, both the Harbor Express and the City Water Taxi will continue to operate their full passenger water transportation service schedules and itineraries. The Harbor Express is owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and provides year-round service aboard high-speed catamarans between Logan Airport and Long Wharf in downtown Boston then to Quincy and Hull on the South Shore. The City Water Taxi is an independently owned on-call water taxi. It provides on-call vessel service to more than 12 landings in Boston's Inner Harbor including downtown, Charlestown and South Boston destinations. The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) provides regular courtesy bus service from the Logan Airport dock to all passenger terminals. For more information, call 1-800-23-LOGAN. |
