Holiday Cheer Abounds At Logan
Programs Include Live Music, Gift Wrapping and Additional Staff

December 20, 2002

This season travelers using Logan International Airport will be treated to a host of holiday festivities throughout the airport terminals. Continuing the commitment to customer service, Massport has scheduled some exciting venues to entertain passengers this year -- and it all starts today, Friday, December 20, 2002.

Fiddlers, pianists, guitarists, violinists and other musicians will perform classical tunes and holiday songs each afternoon in all Logan terminals from Friday, December 20 through Monday, December 23. Musicians from the New England Conservatory and Zumix, a local non profit group, will perform from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Children will enjoy entertainment from festive characters spreading good cheer with balloons, toys, coloring books and crayons. Other passengers may rest their feet by relaxing in one of the several rocking chairs spread throughout the terminals.

In traditional holiday fashion, the Massachusetts Port Authority(Massport) will staff the airport with extra personnel and volunteers to provide basic assistance to all travelers. The volunteers will be identifiable by their familiar blue vests and will be joined by public service representatives wearing bright red Santa hats.

Because federal security measures discourage gift-wrapped packages (because they may have to be opened), volunteers will be on hand to wrap gifts near the baggage claim areas in Terminals B and C.
