  • Advanced Logan Airside Program-earned State approval of Runway 14-32
  • Reformed car, expense, and travel policies for more accountability and savings
  • Revitalized Worcester Regional Airport; attracting 3 new air carriers and doubling passenger count in 2000
  • Increased commercial air service from Hanscom Field in Bedford
  • Co-founded Runways: A National Coalition, a group of more than 30 airlines and airports advocating for efficiency in air travel
  • Initiated security audit-top to bottom review of MPA's security systems; hired Israeli counter-terrorism expert Rafi Ron to develop new security procedures for Logan
  • Convinced Chinese shipping carrier to call Port of Boston and provide New England businesses with Far East connection for goods; agreement in final negotiations
  • Finalized Terminal A reconstruction with Delta, resulting in Delta Airline investment of close to $500 million in Logan and the replacement of the airport's oldest terminal
  • Initiated the first ever Air Quality Initiative to cap airport emissions at 1999 levels
  • Managed the removal of a community sensitive, but hazardous, blast fence at the end of Logan runway, improving airfield safety
  • Negotiated an East Boston waterfront development deal with Roseland/SeaChain, to retain strong maritime presence on Boston's waterfront and meet community goals for housing and redevelopment
  • Expanded alternative transportation options to and from Logan to reduce traffic and pollution, including the creation of a fourth Logan Express from Peabody
  • Encouraged the use of environmentally-friendly travel to and from Logan by providing incentive discount programs for Logan Express and the Water Shuttle
  • Introduced electronic toll collection technology at Tobin Memorial Bridge
  • Targeted advertising dollars to aggressively market regional airports for responsible and fair growth in air travel and reduction of the burden on Logan and its neighbors
  • Instituted several nationally recognized customer service programs; including many family-friendly initiatives
  • Closed longstanding agreement to help convert ParkEx into East Boston park as part of Central Artery mitigation
  • Developed a Massport Business Plan to refocus Massport mission and objectives
