Support Runway 14/32 at MEPA Hearing on April 25th

4/12/2001

For those disturbed by the growing pattern of delays at Logan International Airport, a one-time chance to overtly support Runway 14/32 will be offered on Wednesday, April 25 when MEPA conducts a public hearing on the Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Final Environmental Impact Report for Logan Airports Airside Program.

The hearing will be held at the Radisson Hotel (located on the corner of Stuart and Charles Streets in downtown Boston), Convention Center Rooms A & B, on the sixth floor. It will begin at 3:00 PM and continue until 5:00 PM. After a one-hour break which may be shortened depending on the number of people registered to speak the hearing will resume at 6:00 PM and will continue into the evening to provide ample opportunity for all registered speakers to be heard. .

Those wishing to speak should register onsite at 3:00 PM at the sign-in tables provided. There will be two sheets provided, one pro-runway and one anti-runway. Speakers will be called on a first-come, first-served basis, rotating alternately between the two lists, from 3:00 PM through the duration of the hearing. Speakers should state their name and affiliation and then will be limited to between three to five minutes to present their remarks.

Following a brief statement by Massport Director of Aviation Planning and Development Betty Desrosiers explaining the purpose of the hearing, the FAA will moderate the discussion.

Comments can also be provided in writing to MEPA as follows:

Robert Durand, Secretary, Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
Attn: MEPA Office, Arthur Pugsley, EOEA #10458
251 Causeway Street, Suite 900
Boston, MA 02114

The comment period is June 6, 2001 for the federal process and June 8, 2001 for MEPA.
