Massport to Slash Fares on Logan Express for School Vacation Week

Massport Executive Director and CEO Virginia Buckingham announced today that Massport will slash fare prices on round trip Logan Express bus fares for the February school vaction. Effective Friday, February 18 through Sunday, February 27, the purchase of a round trip ticket, normally $14.00, will cost only $7.00.

The fare reduction is an incentive for passengers to use one of the three Logan Express services rather than driving to Logan. Massport offered the discount fares during the past holiday season resulting in a dramatic 10-20% jump in ridership on Logan Express and a reduction in congestion on local neighborhood streets.

"The success of the Thanksgiving and December holiday discount encouraged us to continue the program during another heavy travel week at Logan," said Massport Excutive Director and CEO Virginia Buckingham. "The program is another way Massport is offering convenient, affordable transportation to Logan and easing the traffic conditions in and around the airport."

In order to take advantage of the Logan Express round trip discount, passengers must be dropped-off (kiss & ride) at the Logan Express site, where they will receive a coupon for half-off a round trip fare.

"Our business is to respond to our customers' needs," said Buckingham. "Massport will continue to look for innovative ways to make Logan more accessible to travelers."

The first Logan Express opened in Braintree in 1986 as part of a mitigation agreement Massport made to increase HOV ridership. An additional Logan Express service opened in Framingham later that year and the Woburn Logan Express began in 1993. Last year, Logan Express carried over a million passengers. Massport recently announced plans to site a fourth Logan Express on the North Shore.
