MEPA Issues Certificate For Terminal A; Delta gets green light to proceed to final phase of environmental review

7/28/2000

The Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs issued a MEPA Certificate for the Draft Environmental Impact Report filed by Delta Air Lines for the rebuilding of Terminal A at Logan Airport. The Secretary acknowledged that Delta's filing properly and adequately complies with MEPA regulations. The Secretary also approved the proposed mitigation program for the project.

The Secretary's certificate outlined the areas that must be covered in greater detail in the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR), including:
  • A further explanation of noise and possible benefits of a blast fence at the site;
  • Evaluation of air quality in conjunction with CA/T vent building;
  • Explanation of alternative fuel vehicle conversion program;
  • Additional detail on commitment to create a "green building";
Once the additional analysis has been completed, Delta Airlines will file a FEIR which will be followed by a public comment and review period.
